Carl Fogarty, a true Superbike legend, will be involved in the British Superbike Championship (BSB) this year as the team principal for Advocates Racing.

The former rider was a four-time Superbike World Champion with Ducati in the 1990s, retiring in 2000 after suffering multiple injuries in a crash at Phillip Island.

Now 59, Fogarty is making his return to racing in a managerial role in BSB. Advocates Racing, led by Lecha Khouri, will be using Ducati bikes and working in collaboration with Jackson Racing.

Speaking to the official championship website, Fogarty commented: ‘I love the racing in BSB. Of the three championships I follow – MotoGP, World Superbikes and BSB, it is my favourite one. That’s because of how close the racing is, the nature of the circuits that they race on, the power of the bikes and the way that the electronics don’t interfere with the riders, they control it and I can relate to that from when I raced. I’m happy to be part of this and with my racing knowledge and experience, being involved with this race team is incredibly exciting’.

The PBM Ducati team has confirmed that Glenn Irwin will remain as their sole rider for the 2025 British Superbike (BSB) season, solidifying his place in the team with a fresh two-year contract. This extension marks Irwin’s third consecutive season with PBM and secures his spot through 2026, as he intensifies his pursuit of his first BSB title.

The Northern Irishman, a formidable contender in recent BSB seasons, has finished in the top three for three consecutive years. He narrowly missed out on the championship in 2023, losing by just 0.5 points to his then-teammate Tommy Bridewell, and concluded the 2024 season in third behind Bridewell and Kyle Ryde. For 2025, he’ll be back on the Ducati Panigale V4 R—a bike that has claimed three titles since its debut in 2019, boasting a strong 50% title success rate.

PBM Racing’s co-owner, Jordan Bird, expressed excitement over Irwin’s continued presence on the team. “It is fantastic that we can announce that Glenn will remain with the PBM Racing Team for the next two seasons,” Bird said. “This season was a big year for us, and I am proud of what we have all achieved in our first full season together. Now we are focused on the new season, working hard behind the scenes to come out fighting for the Championship in 2025.”

Irwin’s journey with PBM began in 2017 when he transitioned from the British Supersport class to BSB. He briefly left PBM in 2019, competing with Quattro Plant Kawasaki and later TAS Racing BMW, before joining Honda Racing UK in 2020. After three successful seasons with Honda, including a close second-place finish in 2022, he rejoined PBM with renewed determination.

In a bid to sharpen his focus on the BSB championship, Irwin recently announced his departure from road racing, specifically stepping away from events like the North West 200. This decision underscores his commitment to securing his first BSB crown.

As the 2025 season approaches, Irwin and PBM are aiming to capture the team’s tenth BSB title, with Irwin embracing the role of PBM’s sole rider for a second straight season. With consistency and a fierce determination, both Irwin and PBM are setting their sights on championship glory.

What an absolutely brilliant weekend of the British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch, with the fight for the title being carried out literally until the last lap of the final race of the weekend.

Yesterday on the British circuit, it was possible to see the now former champion Tommy Bridewell (Honda Racing UK) having a fierce battle with Kyle Ryde (OMG GRILLA Yamaha Racing) and all with the title at stake.

The balance was so great that the fight continued until very close to the end, where Ryde would end up winning just four corners from the end against his rival, who was then leading the championship.

In the end, Ryde managed to triumph and win the title against the «King» of 2023, by just 0.296s, in a battle that will certainly go down in the records as one of the most exciting of all time in the category!

Even better is to see for yourself a battle of true titans, and what a delight it was for motorcycling fans!

The 2024 Bennetts British Superbike Championship (BSB) was decided by the narrowest of margins, with Kyle Ryde claiming the championship by just one point after a thrilling battle with defending champion Tommy Bridewell. The final race, consisting of 20 intense laps on the Brands Hatch circuit, gave Ryde, an OMG GRILLA Yamaha Racing rider, his first title in the category.

At the start of the race, Bridewell took the lead from pole position, closely followed by Andrew Irwin, who made a remarkable start from seventh place to second. Ryde, meanwhile, established himself in third, while Hager PBM Ducati’s Glenn Irwin began to press and overtook Ryde in the first few laps.

Andrew Irwin tried to resist his brother Glenn’s advance, but the latter managed to overtake both Honda Racing UK riders to take the lead on lap six. Ryde, determined to stay in the fight for the title, overtook Andrew Irwin at the Sheene corner shortly afterwards and began to chase Glenn Irwin and Bridewell.

Shortly afterwards, Ryde made a series of decisive overtakes on Bridewell and Glenn Irwin, taking the lead of the race. Although he managed to open up a slight advantage, Bridewell responded quickly, setting a new lap record at the Brands Hatch circuit with a time of 1’24.759, and regained the lead on the following lap, overtaking Ryde at the Stirlings corner.

The duel between the two drivers continued until the end of the race, in a constant exchange of positions that kept the fans engaged as the race unfolded. Ryde managed to take the lead several times at the Hawthorn corner, but Bridewell, with his characteristic maneuver at Stirlings, regained first place. The race became even more heated in the final laps, just as it had in the second race of the weekend.

On the last lap, Ryde made the decisive move on Hawthorn with just three corners remaining. Bridewell, pushing to the limit, was unable to overtake in the final corner, crossing the finish line just 0.296 seconds behind Ryde.

With the result of the previous race reversed, Ryde secured the title by just one point, the same gap that had separated them at the start of the day.

The final podium of the season was completed by Ryan Vickers, while Danny Kent and Max Cook finished fourth and fifth respectively. Josh Brookes was sixth, with Glenn and Andrew Irwin taking seventh and ninth, separated by Charlie Nesbitt. Billy McConnell rounded off the top-10.

This victory marks a historic moment in the career of Kyle Ryde, who became British Superbike champion for the first time after a season marked by intense battles and a truly memorable end to the championship.

The British Superbike Championship is continuing at a good pace and this weekend is its final round at Brands Hatch. And yesterday, during qualifying, there was a spectacular and fortunately not serious moment for Glenn Irwin, with a crash that fortunately had no major consequences.

Third in the championship, Irwin (Hager PBM Ducati) crashed during qualifying, as we said, and that crash limited him severely in terms of his position on the starting grid, where he came 15th, but that was a minor problem, especially after what happened on the circuit, with an apparent crash.

Fortunately, and despite everything, the driver was deemed fit to race, and got up without seeming to have any problems, apart from the scare:

The British Superbike Championship is entering the decisive phase of the season, with the latest round taking place at Cadwell Park this past weekend. With races held on Sunday and Monday in a slightly unusual format, the winners were Kyle Ryde and Tommy Bridewell.

In the first race on Sunday, Ryde (OMG Grilla Yamaha Racing) quickly overtook Jason O’Halloran, who started from pole position, to take the lead. Although O’Halloran, riding for Completely Motorbikes Kawasaki, tried to fight back, Ryde secured the lead for good by the end of the first lap.

From there, Ryde built a small but solid margin, while O’Halloran dropped further down the order. Lee Jackson (MasterMac Honda) moved up to second but couldn’t close the gap to Ryde, finishing 0.791s behind the winner. Charlie Nesbitt (MasterMac Honda) took third, with Bridewell (Honda Racing UK) and Glenn Irwin (Hager PBM Ducati) rounding out the top five ahead of O’Halloran.

On Monday, it was Bridewell’s turn to shine. He made a strong start, taking the lead on the first lap, while Ryde settled into third and took several laps to pass Jackson.

Once Ryde managed to overtake Jackson, he challenged Bridewell but couldn’t close the gap. Bridewell capitalized on a small mistake by Ryde and crossed the finish line 0.219s ahead of his rival. Jackson completed the podium, with Nesbitt in fourth and Irwin in fifth.

Ryde capped off the weekend with the best overall result, winning the third race. He made the holeshot from second place and immediately took the lead.

Although he was overtaken by Ryan Vickers, Ryde regained the position shortly after when the OMG Grilla Yamaha Racing rider crashed. From there, Ryde controlled the race to the finish. This time, Bridewell followed closely, finishing 0.702s behind Ryde. Jackson once again took third place, with Nesbitt in fourth and Irwin in fifth.

Francesco Bagnaia demonstrated his dominance in the Lenovo Race of Champions in Misano, a showcase event featuring 15 Ducati riders from MotoGP, World Superbike, and the British Superbike Championship (BSB) riding the same bike: the new Panigale V4. As the current leader of the MotoGP World Championship, Bagnaia made it clear he was the class of the field.

From the start, Andrea Iannone (Team GoEleven, WSBK) failed to capitalize on his pole position and was quickly overtaken by Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo, MotoGP) and Nicolò Bulega (Aruba.it, WSBK). Iannone managed to recover to second place on the opening lap, but Bagnaia consolidated his lead.

Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac, MotoGP) had a challenging first lap, falling to the back of the pack after two off-track excursions. Meanwhile, Marc Márquez (Gresini, MotoGP) made notable progress, moving from sixth to fourth place.

At the front, Bagnaia managed to build a small lead, but was under constant pressure from Iannone and Bulega. With three laps to go, the top two were separated by less than a second, leaving the race open.

However, on the penultimate lap, Bagnaia managed to break away from Iannone, securing the victory. Iannone held on to second place, finishing 1.462s behind Bagnaia. Bulega and Márquez battled for the final podium position, but a controversial incident occurred on the last corner. Bulega and Márquez may have made contact, causing Bulega to crash and allowing Márquez to claim the last podium spot.

Marco Bezzecchi and his VR46 teammate Fabio Di Giannantonio rounded out the top five. Martín managed to recover to ninth place, while double Superbike World Champion Álvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Ducati) finished in 12th.
