In the world of motorcycling and sports bikes, to mention the Aprilia RSV1000 is to take enthusiasts back to a bygone era – and, for many, a better one. This was the superbike that dared to challenge the Japanese giants with its Rotax twin-cylinder engine, innovative frame and pure racing DNA. If you’re nostalgic for this name, there’s good news: Aprilia may be preparing a comeback.

The Italian brand stopped making the RSV1000 about a decade ago, replacing it with the current RSV4. However, the Piaggio group recently submitted an application to register the RSV1000 trademark in the United States, guaranteeing the rights to the name until 2025. Although there are no concrete details yet, this move suggests that Aprilia may be planning to relaunch one of its most iconic models.

In recent years, sports bikes have experienced a real renaissance. Examples such as the new Ducati Panigale V2 or the Yamaha YZF-R9 demonstrate the tendency of brands to balance cost, performance and usability. Many of these new proposals seek to fill the space left by older models, and the RSV1000 could fit into that same concept for Aprilia.

Currently, the brand doesn’t have an intermediate motorbike between the RS660 (105 hp) and the RSV4 (220 hp), leaving a clear gap in its range. The registration of the RSV1000 could indicate an intention to fill this gap by offering a twin-cylinder superbike with a displacement between 900 and 1000 cc, controlled power and a more affordable price – a similar approach to Ducati’s Panigale V2.

The last generation RSV1000 disappeared due to stricter environmental regulations, with Aprilia choosing not to update it and focus on the RSV4. However, market conditions have changed, and the brand may now need a more restrained model capable of attracting less experienced riders and offering a competitive alternative.

Another, more long-term possibility is a possible return for Aprilia to the World Superbike Championship (WSBK), where it has won victories in the past. The head of Aprilia Racing, Massimo Rivola, has already expressed interest in returning to the competition, as long as the homologated bikes were more affordable, in an allusion to superstock.

With the new MotoGP regulations scheduled for 2027, this could be the ideal time to develop a bike that serves both the market and competition. For now, it’s all guesswork, but the registration of the RSV1000 name is a fact – and could be the harbinger of a long-awaited comeback.

Kawasaki has announced that its new Z900 SE, recently revealed in Europe, will be available in Japan from April 12, 2025. This model, which represents an evolution of the popular Z900, is distinguished by its new design and high-quality components.

The heart of the Z900 SE continues to be the 948cc engine, a liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder, capable of delivering 124 hp at 9,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 98 Nm at 7,700 rpm. This powerplant, combined with a lightweight trellis frame, promises an agile response and progressive power delivery, ensuring an exciting and refined riding experience.

The exterior design of the new Z900 SE adopts Kawasaki’s “Sugomi” philosophy, combining aggressive lines and a dynamic profile. The front receives a new “bikini” fairing and a compact three-lens LED lighting system. The assembly conveys a low and aggressive stance, maintaining the visual identity of the Z series.

When it comes to the chassis, Kawasaki has raised the standard with the inclusion of high-performance Brembo brakes, Showa inverted fork, Öhlins rear shock absorber, and Dunlop Sportmax Q5A tires, optimizing stability and cornering performance. Additionally, the electronics have been enhanced with an electronic throttle, IMU for riding dynamics management, cruise control, and a KQS quickshifter system.

The instrument panel is a 5-inch color TFT, with smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation system, a first for the brand, reinforcing the touring vocation of this model.

The new Kawasaki Z900 SE will be marketed in Metallic Graphite Gray x Ebony color, maintaining a sophisticated and modern design. Specifications include a seat height of 810 mm, weight of 215 kg, and a fuel tank with a capacity of 17 liters.

With a balance between performance, technology, and design, the new Z900 SE promises to be one of the most interesting options in the sports naked segment.

Chinese brand QJMotor continues to expand its motorcycle range in the North American market, introducing new models that cover different segments, from roadsters and sportbikes to cruisers and adventure bikes. With Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certification, these new machines are about to arrive at dealerships in the United States.

Among the most notable newcomers is the arrival of QJMotor’s first four-cylinder models in the US. The SRK600 roadster and SRK600RC sportbike, both equipped with a 600cc inline four-cylinder engine, promise to offer a combination of performance and style. Additionally, the SRV600V cruiser, equipped with a V4 engine, marks a new approach by the brand in this segment.

The 600cc engine in these models has a history dating back more than two decades, even before Qianjiang, QJMotor’s parent company, acquired Benelli. Originally designed for the Benelli Quattro, this engine has evolved over the years and is now updated to meet the latest Euro 5 emission standards. According to EPA records, the powerplant delivers 87 hp at 11,500 rpm, a higher value than the 80 hp announced for the European version. The SRK600 also features a trellis frame and Brembo radial brakes, ensuring a solid performance package.

Another highlight is the SVT650 adventurer, a 645cc V-twin model that is still awaiting EPA approval, but already appears on QJMotor’s US website. In the adventure segment, the brand also reinforces its offering with the SRT800SX, an evolution of the SRT750X, which offers 91 hp from its 799cc parallel-twin engine.

The brand also invests in the cruiser segment, with the SRV350VS, a 343cc V-twin model with 32 hp, inspired by Harley-Davidson aesthetics, and the SRV550ST, which features a 554cc parallel-twin engine with 55 hp. Both have already received EPA certification for the American market.

Finally, QJMotor is also betting on the maxiscooter segment with the Fort 250 and Fort 350 models, equipped with 250cc and 350cc engines, respectively, and CVT automatic transmission.

Information on prices and launch dates has not yet been revealed, but it is clear that QJMotor is determined to significantly expand its presence in the North American market.

The recent approval of new anti-tampering provisions for optional exhaust silencer systems promises to significantly alter the motorcycle market in Europe. The measures, which are part of the third series of amendments to UN Regulation No. 92, make it impossible to remove devices known as “DB Killers,” making it more difficult to manipulate exhausts to increase noise.

The European Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (ACEM), representing 17 major manufacturers in the sector, including brands such as BMW Motorrad, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Yamaha, and Triumph, has expressed support for the new provisions. The organization recognizes the growing concern of citizens and regulators regarding noise pollution and highlights that maximum noise emission limits have been regulated in the European Union since the 1990s.

The evolution of these regulations is the result of collaboration between ACEM, aftermarket exhaust manufacturers, and the International Motorcycle Manufacturers Association (IMMA). In 2023, these entities published specific guidelines to combat the manipulation of exhaust systems, directly influencing the development of the new rules.

Antonio Perlot, Secretary-General of ACEM, highlighted the importance of adopting these measures: “This decision represents a significant step to ensure that replacement exhaust systems comply with regulatory standards. By reducing excessive noise, these rules address the concerns of citizens and policymakers.”

The final decision was made during the 80th session of UNECE GRBP in September 2024, and was subsequently validated in March 2025 by the WP.29. The EU Type-Approval Framework Regulation (EU) 168/2013 requires the application of UNECE Regulations No. 92 and No. 41, which regulate aftermarket exhausts and original motorcycle exhaust systems, respectively.

These rules are developed and maintained by the Working Party on Noise and Tyres (GRBP), within the scope of the World Forum for Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations (WP.29), under the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).

The measure represents an advance in environmental regulation and in promoting more responsible motorcycling. However, some motorcycle enthusiasts argue that the restriction may limit motorcycle customization, an essential aspect for many fans. Despite this, the new legislation is expected to significantly reduce noise pollution, contributing to a more peaceful and balanced urban environment.

The new MT-03 ABS comes equipped with an Assist & Slipper Clutch (A&S Clutch), reducing effort when shifting gears and ensuring smoother downshifts. At its core is the well-known 321cc twin-cylinder engine, compliant with Euro5+ regulations, delivering 42 hp and 29.5 Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm—ideal for both city riding and open-road adventures.

The 2025 model features an updated LCD panel compatible with Yamaha Motorcycle Connect “Y-Connect,” allowing smartphone pairing with the bike. A convenient USB port has also been added to keep devices charged during rides. Two-wheel enthusiasts who want to own a piece of motorcycling history now have a unique opportunity: the iconic 1995 Honda RVF750 V&M RC45 is available for purchase. However, this rarity has a high price tag of £64,999 (€75,500).

The prestigious racing bike is available through The Bike Specialists, which presents this special edition that has been ridden by several racers in various competitions, achieving a remarkable record of success.

This Honda is no ordinary RVF. It’s the official motorbike of ex-V&M Racing, Jack Valentine and Steve Mellor’s team, which competed between 1995 and 1997.

Built and homologated to compete in the World Superbike Championship, it was initially ridden by Steve Ward for Castrol in 1995, taking third place in that year’s TT.

In 1995, Terry Rymer also shone on this machine, taking first place at Brands Hatch, while Ian Duffus achieved two fourth places in the TT and in the NW200 in 1996.

Motorcycling legend Michael Rutter then took the bike to second place in the Senior TT in 1997 and also achieved a first and second place in the North West 200. The bike competed in V&M Racing colours during the 1996 and 1997 seasons, with the last victory coming in heavy rain at Brands Hatch in 1997.

For the last 15 years, this rarity has been in the current owner’s collection, having been carefully maintained and serviced to keep it in working order. Recently, he had the opportunity to ride it at a Goodwood event.

The bike comes with its paddock rack and a complete dossier containing detailed information, including handwritten notes on mechanical overhauls, racing history and various magazine articles.

Motorcycle sales recorded a new decline in February, maintaining the negative trend that has been evident since January when compared to the same months of 2024.

The numbers are concerning: in February 2025, sales fell 30% compared to the previous year, with a total of only 3,215 new motorcycle registrations. Higher displacement models were the most affected, although the decline was seen across the entire market.

This sharp decline follows a particularly weak January, which recorded the worst figures for the period since 2021. Although the slowdown in sales was expected, the speed at which it has occurred surprised the industry, especially after a historic 2024 for brands such as Triumph, which reached record sales, and Honda, which also recorded significant growth.

The MCIA (Motorcycle Industry Association) revealed that the forecast for the first quarter of 2025 pointed to a sharp drop, due to the strong pre-registration activity that occurred in the last quarter of last year.

Small displacement scooters were the best-selling models in February, with the Honda PCX125 standing out, recording sales numbers four times higher than larger motorcycles.

Tony Campbell, CEO of MCIA, commented: ‘We expected the market would continue to fall this quarter and we are monitoring the situation closely. With the arrival of the new season, a strong March and a dynamic spring will be crucial for the year’s recovery. As I have stressed before, the current economic policies introduced by this government in October have only undermined consumer confidence and increased costs for businesses.’

He added: ‘The recent announcements of long-term measures will do little or nothing to change the short and medium-term outlook. With some of these policies coming into effect from April, we can only hope that the Chancellor recognizes that the announced “pro-growth” strategy is not producing results.’

Honda has launched the long-awaited CB1300 SUPER FOUR SP Final Edition, a fitting farewell to the iconic CB1300 series. With only 3,400 units available, this model celebrates the legacy of the ‘PROJECT BIG-1’, which has marked the history of high-cylinder naked bikes since 1992.

The CB1300 SUPER FOUR SP Final Edition has been designed to pay homage to the first model in the series, the CB1000 SUPER FOUR, recovering the classic colours and details of its predecessor. The fuel tank features an exclusive ‘Final Edition’ sticker, while the swingarm, top table and steering column appear in silver, evoking the original look. In addition, the gold chain complements the classic design.

CB1300 SUPER FOUR SP Final Edition

Available in SUPER FOUR and SUPER BOL D’OR versions, in both standard and SP variants, the Final Edition comes in two colour options: Graphite Black, giving it a more imposing presence, and Pearl Sunbeam White, the classic PROJECT BIG-1 shade.

The SP model, the most sought-after version, features exclusive technical improvements, including premium front and rear suspension and high-performance brake callipers, guaranteeing a more refined riding experience.

Mechanically, the CB1300 SUPER FOUR SP Final Edition retains the powerful 1,284 cc in-line four-cylinder engine, capable of delivering 113 hp at 7,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 112 Nm at 6,250 rpm. With a six-speed transmission and a 21-litre tank, this special edition continues to offer the balance between performance and comfort that has made the CB1300 series such a benchmark.

CB1300 SUPER BOLD’OR Final Edition

Acceptance of the model has been immediate, with an intense flow of orders since its launch on 28 February. The most sought-after version is the CB1300 SUPER FOUR SP Final Edition, closely followed by the standard version in Graphite Black. Although the SUPER BOL D’OR variant also has many fans, motorcyclists seem to be prioritising the SUPER FOUR, considering it the true final chapter of the legendary ‘BIG-1’ series.

With production limited to 3,400 units, those interested should contact Honda dealers as soon as possible to secure one of the last CB1300s. This is undoubtedly a fitting farewell to one of the Japanese brand’s most iconic motorbikes.
