The tennis world’s much-adored power couple, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa, continue to make headlines with their on-and-off relationship, filled with captivating love stories and thrilling tennis matches. Before the rollercoaster of their love story began, there was a moment that sparked it all – their first encounter.

In an intimate interview ahead of her Miami Open game, Badosa unveiled her initial thoughts about Tsitsipas. The video, disseminated by ‘Overtime Tennis,’ captured Badosa describing Tsitsipas as “very adorable and appealing.” She elaborated on her first impression by adding, “Upon knowing him better, I discovered many wonderful traits. But yes, the initial attraction was definitely there.”

The journey of this dynamic duo has been filled with peaks and valleys. Badosa experienced a career high in May 2022, ranking No. 2, only to suffer a severe back injury in June 2023, which saw her ranking plummet beyond the top 100 by 2024. Despite these trials, Badosa found solace and strength in Tsitsipas.

In a heartfelt conversation with the Spanish magazine Hola, Badosa opened up about how Tsitsipas was her ray of sunshine during her darkest days. “Stef came into my life right after my injury. It was an incredibly tough phase as I had never been away from tennis for so long. He brought me the joy, support, and breath of fresh air I desperately needed. I was fortunate to have a beacon of hope during such a grim period,” Badosa said.

There were moments when Badosa considered leaving the sport due to her persistent injuries, but Tsitsipas was her rock, encouraging her to stay focused and pursue her dreams. Tsitsipas, too, expressed his gratitude for having Badosa in his life. In his interview with Tennis Tonic, he said, “She has brought immense blessings into my life, and I am honored to call her my girlfriend and my life partner.”

Even as Tsitsipas faced a challenging 2024 season, failing to reach any hard court finals and subsequently dropping out of the Top 10 for the first time since 2018, Badosa remained his staunch supporter. Badosa’s faith in Tsitsipas paid off when he clinched the Dubai Tennis Championships by defeating Canada’s Félix Auger-Aliassime in 2025.

Badosa, too, has had her share of trials and triumphs. Despite a rocky start last year, she rebounded impressively, even making it to the SF of the Australian Open. Tsitsipas applauded her success, noting that her accomplishments fueled his motivation.

As the duo prepares for the 2025 Miami Open, both ranking among the Top 10 seeds, their journey continues to inspire and captivate their audience. Can the ‘Tsitsidosa’ magic unfold in the ‘Magic City’ this week? Only time will tell.
