Jorge Martín has confirmed he will not race in the MotoGP Americas GP at the end of March – the third round of the season. His participation in the Qatar GP also remains uncertain.

The Aprilia rider suffered two injuries in February, both requiring surgery. The most serious came just days before the Thai GP, when he fractured the scaphoid in his left hand.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Martín provided an update on his recovery, revealing he won’t be racing in Austin in two weeks time:

– I’m really suffering, it’s not my moment. I’m struggling to recover fast – not as fast as I would like. I can say from here also that I won’t be in Austin – I would like to be there, but I won’t be racing. I don’t know if I can be in Qatar, I don’t know yet – this is still very early for sure.

After missing most of pre-season testing and dealing with complicated injuries, Martín hopes to test before making his competitive return: ‘I would like to do some kind of testing before coming back to racing because I’m not feeling very well. I know Massimo [Rivola] is also working on that, so let’s see if we can make it possible’.
