Rúben Xaus believes Álex Márquez just needs a ‘click’ that will make him grow and win races

Álex Márquez is currently one of the standout riders in MotoGP this year, with the Spaniard claiming four second-place finishes in four races so far, always beaten by the same person: his brother Marc Márquez.

Rúben Xaus believes that the Gresini Racing rider is on an upward trajectory and that he only needs one ‘click’ to make an evolutionary leap and be on the path to victories (many victories), as he explained in the Dura La Vita podcast: ‘When 10 races have passed and he sees himself as a leader, one day he’ll experience a ‘click’ in his life, and the day that ‘click’ works out well for him, and Marc can’t recover like he has done in those two races and overtake him, that day when Alex beats him as an equal, the first day he beats him, he will beat him five times because this gives the rider emotional tranquility’.

Momentum and confidence are crucial for everything to come together, and then the #73 will evolve considerably: ‘When a rider is calm, he makes a quality leap, which perhaps due to pressure in the previous early years he hasn’t made. And I believe that Alex’s quality leap this year has been, above all, emotional, psychological, and finding time and again a motorcycle that was stable’.

It’s worth noting that Álex Márquez is still looking for his first MotoGP victory on Sundays in the long races, and that he is a two-time world champion – in Moto3 in 2014 and in Moto2 in 2019.
