Aprilia is trying to get Jorge Martín—who is injured and so far has only completed a few test laps—into a test session before returning to MotoGP. With the Italian manufacturer attempting to obtain authorization from competitors for this to happen, Ducati may not be entirely in agreement… for now.

Davide Tardozzi was questioned about the issue and explained Ducati’s point of view regarding Aprilia’s request: ‘I think it’s a good idea for the future. We had the same problem with [Enea] Bastianini and nobody gave us the opportunity to do a test, so I think it’s a good opportunity to change the rules for next year’.

The manager was asked if Ducati’s intention is to give the green light for this only for next year or already for the GP where Martín’s arrival is anticipated, in Qatar three weeks from now. The Team Manager clarified: ‘I believe they have a very competitive bike and Jorge won’t need the test’.

He then explained that he sees the current world champion as a highly competitive rival: ‘I believe that when he is recovered, he will be one of our rivals. We know Jorge very well and we know that he will be one of the guys who will fight with us for victory’.
