Franco Morbidelli and Joan Mir were the fastest in Q1 in Argentina and thus secured the opportunity to fight for pole position in Q2 with the fastest so far in Termas de Río Hondo.

All set for MotoGP Q1 in Argentina and two highly coveted places up for grabs. Who would be the two fastest in the session? Come with us to find out.

Luca Marini, Maverick Viñales, Franco Morbidelli, Enea Bastianini, Raúl Fernández, Lorenzo Savadori, Miguel Oliveira, Joan Mir, Somkiat Chantra, Fermín Aldeguer, Ai Ogura and Jack Miller were the riders who would compete for the places.

At the end of the first fast laps, it was Morbidelli and Miller who took the lead for now, in the top positions. 1:37.645s was the reference time, set by the Italian from Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team.

Morbi improved his record and set the bar higher with a lap of 1:37.312s and left Miller 0.375s behind. Ogura was third and Mir fourth, for now.

The session quickly reached its halfway point and Morbidelli’s third lap was still worth the rider’s quickest time, with Miller still in second.

With five minutes to go, the drivers headed out onto the track and prepared for the final attack on Q2, it was all or nothing now!

With three minutes to go, Chantra ended his session after falling in the first sector.

Mir reached second position but was 0.214s behind, and soon after Ogura, in turn 2, crashed heavily but without any serious problems for the rookie. With the yellow flag in the air, riders’ times on the track could be heavily affected.
