This year’s Argentina GP will go down in history as one of the most exciting in recent times. From breathtaking overtakes to attendance records, Termas de Río Hondo was once again the stage for unforgettable moments. With Marc Márquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) claiming a spectacular victory, we dive into the most impressive numbers of the weekend.

Marc Márquez makes history in Termas de Río Hondo

  • Marc Márquez claimed his 64th victory in MotoGP™ and his fourth at the Argentine circuit, following his triumphs in 2014, 2016, and 2019.
  • With this victory, the Spanish rider matched legend Ángel Nieto for third place on the list of riders with the most Grand Prix victories across all categories (90 wins).
  • For the first time since 2014, Márquez won the first two races of the season. The last time a rider achieved this feat was Fabio Quartararo in 2020 (Spanish GP and Andalusian GP).
  • The #93 also became the first rider to achieve a perfect weekend in two consecutive Grand Prix, scoring pole position, fastest lap, and victory in both the Sprint and the main race.

Absolute dominance by Ducati

  • Ducati celebrated its 19th consecutive Grand Prix victory. The last manufacturer to achieve a similar sequence was Honda, with 22 consecutive victories between Malaysia in 1997 and the Dutch TT in 1998.
  • Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) finished 4th, missing the podium for the first time since his crash at the Emilia-Romagna GP last year, thus interrupting a sequence of seven consecutive podiums.
  • Bagnaia still hasn’t achieved a podium in Termas de Río Hondo, one of two circuits on the current calendar where he has competed in MotoGP without reaching the podium. The other is Brno.

Another podium for Álex Márquez, and the return 1414 days later for Franco Morbidelli

  • Álex Márquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) finished 2nd, achieving consecutive podiums for the first time since 2020 (France and Aragon), when he was still racing for Honda. It was his seventh podium in the premier class.
  • Franco Morbidelli (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) claimed third place, reaching the podium in a Grand Prix for the first time since Jerez 2021 (1414 days ago). This was his first podium with Ducati, after securing a podium in the San Marino Sprint in 2024.

Highlights among the remaining riders

  • Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) achieved 5th place, his best result since finishing 4th in Thailand in 2024, the last race before undergoing shoulder surgery.
  • Johann Zarco (CASTROL Honda LCR) was 6th, achieving his best result since joining Honda. This was also the Japanese manufacturer’s best classification since Marc Márquez’s 6th place in Thailand in 2023.
  • Honda had a positive weekend, with three riders in the top 10: Johann Zarco (6th), Joan Mir (9th), and Luca Marini (10th). It was the first time since Portugal 2022 that three Honda riders finished in the top 10.

Attendance record in Termas de Río Hondo

  • The 2025 Argentina GP established a new attendance record, with 208,979 spectators throughout the weekend.

The action doesn’t stop, and the MotoGP World Championship now heads to the United States. The Circuit of the Americas in Texas hosts the next round of the championship from March 28 to 30. Don’t miss it!

Eastern Conference Play-In Picture
The Atlanta Hawks hold the seventh seed while facing a challenging race in an Eastern Conference where the margin for error is slim. Positioned 5.5 games behind the sixth seed, the upper echelon appears out of reach, meaning the Hawks will have two opportunities in the play-in tournament to secure their postseason berth. With the Magic and the Bulls in close competition, the final standings might well be decided by key head-to-head matchups later in the season.

Navigating a Treacherous Schedule
In the upcoming 13 games, the Hawks face a mix of opponents. Matchups against teams such as the Sixers, Heat, Blazers, Mavericks, Jazz, and Nets present favorable challenges, complemented by two contests against the Magic. However, games against powerhouses like Golden State, Houston, Milwaukee, and New York are expected to test the team’s capabilities. Both the Hawks and their play-in rivals have demanding schedules stretching into the final stretch. Extended losing streaks could prove fatal in a dynamic race that is likely to come down to head-to-head encounters slated for early April.

Trae Young’s Resurgence and Impact
The cornerstone of the Hawks’ push is a healthier, more dynamic version of Trae Young. Despite managing Achilles tendinitis, he has elevated his game by averaging 24.1 points and a career-high 11.4 assists. His leadership on the court fuels an offense that scores 8.4 points more with him present. Young has honed his ability to draw fouls and convert them, boasting an elite free-throw percentage recently while improving his plus-minus numbers. His exceptional playmaking and strong pick-and-roll skills set him apart in an environment where facilitating and self-creation are essential for success in imminent playoff contests.

A Bench That Has Evolved
The Hawks’ second unit has seen significant improvement, morphing from a previously underwhelming rotation into one that brings both scoring and teamwork. New pieces like Caris LeVert and Georges Niang have bolstered the lineup, offering efficiency on scoring—LeVert is converting at a remarkable rate off his cuts—and the ability to elevate Young’s performance when paired together. Terence Mann and others offer complementary skill sets which improve shooting percentages and provide much-needed energy on both ends of the court. This enhanced depth gives Atlanta an edge over teams with less robust bench options, a factor that could be decisive in tightly contested play-in scenarios.

Defensive Upgrades and Rotational Cohesion
Recent roster changes have bolstered Atlanta’s defensive identity. The integration of youthful players has brought dynamic energy to the defensive end. A lineup featuring Dyson Daniels, Zaccharie Risacher, and Onyeka Okongwu contributes both on offense and defense, with Daniels emerging as a standout defender noted for his extraordinary steal average and defensive box plus-minus. Okongwu’s steady presence in the paint and ability to guard versatile centers offer Atlanta a more balanced approach compared to previous iterations of the team. This collective improvement on defense is crucial in neutralizing opponents’ high-powered offenses.

Outlook for the Playoffs
While the Hawks are not expected to make a deep playoff run given existing defensive challenges and the injury setbacks that have limited their ceiling, there is a solid foundation for a competitive postseason presence. The combined resurgence of Trae Young, the evolved second unit, and the strategic deployment of young talent all contribute to making Atlanta a formidable threat in the play-in tournament. Achieving a steady balance on both ends of the court in the final stretch will be key to sealing either the seventh or eighth seed and positioning the team for a hard-fought battle in the playoffs.

The spotlight in MotoGP is inevitably on the fastest riders in each GP, but the races are not limited to that, with many of the battles also being fought further back from the front places.

Franco Morbidelli was one of the highlights and to reach third position he fought intense battles with his VR46 Racing Team teammate, Fabio Di Giannantonio, but also beat his compatriot Pecco Bagnaia.

Normally outside of these «wanderings» is precisely Bagnaia who battled with Johann Zarco for fourth place, but the Frenchman then found himself more at the end of the GP, even at the end, with DiGia overtaking, with the #49 in turn, before that, also measuring strength against Brad Binder’s KTM.

Ai Ogura was another standout, finishing the race in eighth place – he would be disqualified shortly afterwards – but starting from 15th position he beat many of the drivers, such as Pedro Acosta and Joan Mir.

And if the KTM Tech3 duo also struggled, the truth is that they had different luck: Raúl Fernández got involved with Enea Bastianini and he ended up on the ground, and although he returned to the race his performance was immediately affected, and Maverick Viñales took positive steps in his ongoing search for the best sensations with the RC16.

The sound of thunderous applause echoed around the colossal main grandstand of the Shanghai track, resembling the resonance you might find at a bustling swimming pool in a leisure centre. This was the triumphant welcome received by Lewis Hamilton as he secured his maiden pole for Ferrari during the sprint qualifying for the Chinese Grand Prix in Formula 1. As the cheers rolled on, one racer was yet to make his run – Max Verstappen.

Despite Hamilton’s successful run, Ferrari’s overall performance continues to falter. Even with a champion like Hamilton behind the wheel, the renowned Italian racing team is still grappling with performance issues. The Shanghai sprint pole, while a significant achievement, does not hide the fact that the team is struggling to regain its former glory.

Hamilton’s pole position is a testament to his skill and ability, but it is also a stark reminder of Ferrari’s ongoing struggles. The team’s performance in China, while marked by Hamilton’s pole, was still overshadowed by the looming presence of Verstappen, who was yet to run at that point.

Ferrari’s struggle is not a secret in the F1 world. Despite having a legend like Hamilton in their ranks, the team’s performance has been lacklustre. Hamilton’s pole in Shanghai, while a commendable achievement, is but a small victory in an otherwise uphill battle.

The road to success for Ferrari seems steep, and the Shanghai sprint pole, despite being a shining moment for Hamilton, does not negate the team’s ongoing challenges. The Formula 1 world continues to watch as Ferrari grapples with performance issues, even with a champion like Hamilton at the helm.

Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari pole in China was a moment of celebration, but it was also a stark reminder of the team’s ongoing struggles. With Verstappen yet to run, the echoes of Hamilton’s triumph in the grandstand were tinged with apprehension. Despite the cheers, the realisation remained – Ferrari is still struggling.

Honda showed clear signs of growth and a competitiveness that had not been seen for a long time, with Johann Zarco being the highlight when it comes to the performance increase that the manufacturer achieved. The Frenchman admitted to the press at the end of the race that it had been a very positive round, and emphasized those words to the championship’s official website, stating that everything was very good… until Sunday:

– It was a very good weekend, almost a dream weekend from the first lap on Friday to the race on Sunday. It’s so good to have the possibility to fight with the best riders. It was something positive for us. I did everything to get a podium, and the strategy on Sunday was better than on Saturday because I had a better start on Sunday.

However, and already with his mind on the next GP, Zarco admits that it remains to be seen whether or not his sensations and competitiveness can be similar at the Americas GP, and if so, it will have enormous symbolism for the Japanese manufacturer: ‘If we have another positive weekend at COTA, it will be a good sign for Honda.’

And such performances serve as a tonic to continue working hard: ‘Clearly, our confidence is improving a lot, so we’ll see how we are in Austin because I would love to have a good performance there.’

The Autódromo Internacional do Algarve is preparing to host the second round of the 2025 World Superbike Championship. Since entering the WorldSBK calendar in 2008, the Portuguese circuit has been the stage for memorable moments, epic battles, and title decisions that have marked the history of motorcycle racing.

The circuit’s debut in the World Superbikes brought great stories, including the farewell of legendary Troy Bayliss as a full-time rider and the beginning of Jonathan Rea’s career in the category. Bayliss said goodbye with a double triumph, while Rea showed signs of the talent that would lead him to break records in the sport.

The 2009 season saw Ben Spies overcome a huge points deficit to win the title in his rookie season. The American rider dominated race 1 in Portimão, benefited from a crash by Noriyuki Haga, and secured the championship with a fifth place in the second race, giving Yamaha its first riders’ title in the category.

In 2017 and 2018, Jonathan Rea proved his mastery by winning races starting from ninth position due to the reversed grid system. On both occasions, the Kawasaki rider made surgical overtakes to achieve dominant victories, further consolidating his reputation as one of the best ever.

The 2021 season provided one of the most intense moments in Portimão’s history. Jonathan Rea and Toprak Razgatlioglu starred in a fierce title fight, but successive crashes from both at decisive moments brought unexpected twists. Amid the drama, Michael van der Mark secured an unexpected victory for BMW in mixed conditions.

The 2023 race in Portimão instantly became iconic. Toprak Razgatlioglu and Álvaro Bautista engaged in a spectacular battle, exchanging positions more than 30 times throughout the race. In the end, Bautista prevailed on the last corner, sealing one of the most exciting races in the modern era of WorldSBK.

Already riding for BMW, Toprak Razgatlioglu made history in 2024 by becoming the rider with the most consecutive victories in WorldSBK. He arrived in Portimão with 10 straight wins and left the circuit with 13, surpassing the record of Rea and Bautista. His extravagant celebrations, including jumps into the paddock pool, became as memorable as his performances on track.

With the circuit’s history promising more unforgettable moments, the 2025 round in Portimão has everything to continue the tradition of electrifying races. Fans can expect more intense battles, possible title decisions, and, who knows, another historic chapter on the Portuguese “Rollercoaster.”

Marc and Álex Márquez were once again the protagonists at the Argentine Grand Prix and once again on Sunday the youngest of the clan was even at the front of the race, but in the end the victory belonged to Marc. Ricard Jové believes that the Ducati Lenovo Team rider had something more, but that he came close to crashing before that. And what he expected this year isn’t happening.

Jové who contributes to the Dura La Vita podcast remains a faithful follower of MotoGP and on the programme, quoted by Motosan, he spoke about Marc Márquez’s supremacy at Termas de Río Hondo, even if it was without some potentially damaging moments for the #93:

– The last five laps at fast lap pace. Marc had something. We’re talking about this, but halfway through the race, when Álex was pulling away, Marc came close to going down, but very close. If he had made a mistake chasing his brother, it would have changed the film.

And Marc spoke right at the end, once again, about how surprised he is by Álex’s pace and riding, with Jové recalling those words, without forgetting that more is expected… from Pecco Bagnaia: ‘Marc said it: that his brother was going very fast. He has something more when he applies himself, but Alex is very fast. For me, the script for the year isn’t being fulfilled, it’s Álex who has sprung the surprise, Pecco was expected to be up there’.

The start of the season has proved tough for Raúl Fernández, who missed much of the pre-season due to injury and is still on his way to achieving his best physical level, as well as finding the most solid base for his Aprilia RS-GP. Until then, and especially at the start of the championship, he admits that there may have been mistakes.

Fernández finished the Argentine GP in 15th place, and explained that there had been a change to his bike again: ‘This Sunday in Argentina, again, we changed the bike. The truth is that I took this bike in Thailand when I was injured, and I didn’t feel very good with my body, and maybe there was a mistake because we lost the line a little bit’.

And he explained how this happened and what solution he seems to have found for now: ‘In Thailand I was more or less fine, but here after two days the bike didn’t work the way I wanted it to. So we went back to the set-up I had last year, and that was the key to feeling competitive again’.

The Trackhouse MotoGP Team rider points to the Qatar GP as the first round where he really expects to be at 100 per cent, at all levels, with the Americas GP as a transition before that.

In the world of motorcycling and sports bikes, to mention the Aprilia RSV1000 is to take enthusiasts back to a bygone era – and, for many, a better one. This was the superbike that dared to challenge the Japanese giants with its Rotax twin-cylinder engine, innovative frame and pure racing DNA. If you’re nostalgic for this name, there’s good news: Aprilia may be preparing a comeback.

The Italian brand stopped making the RSV1000 about a decade ago, replacing it with the current RSV4. However, the Piaggio group recently submitted an application to register the RSV1000 trademark in the United States, guaranteeing the rights to the name until 2025. Although there are no concrete details yet, this move suggests that Aprilia may be planning to relaunch one of its most iconic models.

In recent years, sports bikes have experienced a real renaissance. Examples such as the new Ducati Panigale V2 or the Yamaha YZF-R9 demonstrate the tendency of brands to balance cost, performance and usability. Many of these new proposals seek to fill the space left by older models, and the RSV1000 could fit into that same concept for Aprilia.

Currently, the brand doesn’t have an intermediate motorbike between the RS660 (105 hp) and the RSV4 (220 hp), leaving a clear gap in its range. The registration of the RSV1000 could indicate an intention to fill this gap by offering a twin-cylinder superbike with a displacement between 900 and 1000 cc, controlled power and a more affordable price – a similar approach to Ducati’s Panigale V2.

The last generation RSV1000 disappeared due to stricter environmental regulations, with Aprilia choosing not to update it and focus on the RSV4. However, market conditions have changed, and the brand may now need a more restrained model capable of attracting less experienced riders and offering a competitive alternative.

Another, more long-term possibility is a possible return for Aprilia to the World Superbike Championship (WSBK), where it has won victories in the past. The head of Aprilia Racing, Massimo Rivola, has already expressed interest in returning to the competition, as long as the homologated bikes were more affordable, in an allusion to superstock.

With the new MotoGP regulations scheduled for 2027, this could be the ideal time to develop a bike that serves both the market and competition. For now, it’s all guesswork, but the registration of the RSV1000 name is a fact – and could be the harbinger of a long-awaited comeback.

New Legal Representation
Justin Tucker, the kicker for the Baltimore team, has secured fresh legal counsel amid allegations of sexual misconduct involving local massage therapists. He has engaged an Alexandria-based boutique firm that specializes in defending high-profile individuals facing reputation challenges. The firm is known for its aggressive approach in protecting clients’ rights and ensuring fair treatment throughout legal disputes.

Proven Legal Expertise
The legal team has built a strong reputation by handling complex defamation and libel cases. One landmark case involved a high-profile dispute over false claims about vote flipping, which ended with an unprecedented settlement, while another case secured a substantial award following a libel claim related to controversial coverage. These victories underscore a commitment to clear and fair legal advocacy, reflecting the firm’s readiness to address sensitive and impactful allegations.

Comprehensive Client Strategy
In addition to the Alexandria-based team, Tucker also receives support from an established Washington law firm with a track record of dismissing challenging defamation suits. The dual representation reinforces Tucker’s strategic focus on careful review and response. Legal representatives are closely monitoring the ongoing NFL investigation, aiming to ensure that any forthcoming actions are measured and aligned with a thorough defense of his reputation.

Measured Approach Forward
The commitment of Tucker’s legal advisors is not to rush into litigation but to wait for the outcome of the NFL review before proceeding further. Their objective is to protect his interests by demanding clarity and precision in the record. This cautious, proactive stance aims to balance defending his reputation while allowing the investigative process to unfold fully.
