Legendary rider Toni Bou once again demonstrated his dominance at the Barcelona X-Trial, securing his 18th victory in this event and consolidating his position at the top of the championship. However, the night was marked by Adam Raga’s emotional farewell, who ended his career with a brilliant second place, supported by the warm Catalan crowd.

Bou Maintains Hegemony
Toni Bou (Repsol Honda Trial Team) confirmed his favoritism by claiming his third consecutive victory of 2025, prevailing by a three-point margin over Adam Raga (Sherco). With a consistent performance and no major errors, Bou demonstrated once again why he is considered one of the best riders ever in the sport.

On the third step of the podium, Gabriel Marcelli (Repsol Honda Trial Team) overcame Benoit Bincaz (Sherco) and consolidated fourth position in the championship, distancing himself from the French rider.

The night was special for Adam Raga, who competed in his last X-Trial event, ending an impressive career with a total of 159 participations. The Spanish veteran didn’t have an easy qualification, missing automatic transfer in Q1 only due to a tiebreaker criterion with Benoit Bincaz. However, he recovered extraordinarily in Q2, eliminating Jaime Busto by less than four seconds and securing access to the Final.

In the decisive stage, Raga shone, opening a four-point advantage over Gabriel Marcelli in the second section and defending it until the end. The result guaranteed him his best performance since X-Trial Bordeaux in April 2023, closing his career with a podium finish and a memorable farewell.

Jaime Busto was one of the night’s biggest casualties. The Spanish rider arrived in Barcelona just five points behind Toni Bou in the general classification but delivered a below-par performance, finishing seventh in Q1 and scoring only two points, compared to Bou’s twenty. As a result, the gap to the championship leader increased to 23 points, complicating his title aspirations.

Among the remaining riders, Aniol Gelabert (TRRS) and Matteo Grattarola (Beta) stood out in their first appearance of the season, while Harry Hemingway (Beta) closed the list of participants in a highly contested competition.

Berta Abellán Shines in Women’s Trophy Debut
The night also marked the start of the X-Trial Women’s World Trophy, with Berta Abellán (Scorpa) emerging as the main protagonist. The Spanish rider dominated the event, finishing with an eleven-point advantage over Denisa Pechakova (TRRS) in second place, and Andrea Sofia Rabino (Beta), who completed the podium.

Berta Abellán celebrated her second consecutive victory in Barcelona and highlighted the importance of crowd support: “It was an incredible feeling to win here again and feel the fans’ affection. It’s the best way to approach the next round.”

The X-Trial World Championship now enters its second half, with the next round taking place in Stavanger on February 8th. The second round of the Women’s Trophy will also be contested at the same event, where Berta Abellán will look to maintain her leadership.
