Honda showed clear signs of growth and a competitiveness that had not been seen for a long time, with Johann Zarco being the highlight when it comes to the performance increase that the manufacturer achieved. The Frenchman admitted to the press at the end of the race that it had been a very positive round, and emphasized those words to the championship’s official website, stating that everything was very good… until Sunday:

– It was a very good weekend, almost a dream weekend from the first lap on Friday to the race on Sunday. It’s so good to have the possibility to fight with the best riders. It was something positive for us. I did everything to get a podium, and the strategy on Sunday was better than on Saturday because I had a better start on Sunday.

However, and already with his mind on the next GP, Zarco admits that it remains to be seen whether or not his sensations and competitiveness can be similar at the Americas GP, and if so, it will have enormous symbolism for the Japanese manufacturer: ‘If we have another positive weekend at COTA, it will be a good sign for Honda.’

And such performances serve as a tonic to continue working hard: ‘Clearly, our confidence is improving a lot, so we’ll see how we are in Austin because I would love to have a good performance there.’

Marc and Álex Márquez were once again the protagonists at the Argentine Grand Prix and once again on Sunday the youngest of the clan was even at the front of the race, but in the end the victory belonged to Marc. Ricard Jové believes that the Ducati Lenovo Team rider had something more, but that he came close to crashing before that. And what he expected this year isn’t happening.

Jové who contributes to the Dura La Vita podcast remains a faithful follower of MotoGP and on the programme, quoted by Motosan, he spoke about Marc Márquez’s supremacy at Termas de Río Hondo, even if it was without some potentially damaging moments for the #93:

– The last five laps at fast lap pace. Marc had something. We’re talking about this, but halfway through the race, when Álex was pulling away, Marc came close to going down, but very close. If he had made a mistake chasing his brother, it would have changed the film.

And Marc spoke right at the end, once again, about how surprised he is by Álex’s pace and riding, with Jové recalling those words, without forgetting that more is expected… from Pecco Bagnaia: ‘Marc said it: that his brother was going very fast. He has something more when he applies himself, but Alex is very fast. For me, the script for the year isn’t being fulfilled, it’s Álex who has sprung the surprise, Pecco was expected to be up there’.

The start of the season has proved tough for Raúl Fernández, who missed much of the pre-season due to injury and is still on his way to achieving his best physical level, as well as finding the most solid base for his Aprilia RS-GP. Until then, and especially at the start of the championship, he admits that there may have been mistakes.

Fernández finished the Argentine GP in 15th place, and explained that there had been a change to his bike again: ‘This Sunday in Argentina, again, we changed the bike. The truth is that I took this bike in Thailand when I was injured, and I didn’t feel very good with my body, and maybe there was a mistake because we lost the line a little bit’.

And he explained how this happened and what solution he seems to have found for now: ‘In Thailand I was more or less fine, but here after two days the bike didn’t work the way I wanted it to. So we went back to the set-up I had last year, and that was the key to feeling competitive again’.

The Trackhouse MotoGP Team rider points to the Qatar GP as the first round where he really expects to be at 100 per cent, at all levels, with the Americas GP as a transition before that.

Augusto Fernández returns to the MotoGP grid at the GP of the Americas, replacing the injured Miguel Oliveira at Prima Pramac Yamaha. This will be his first time taking on such a role.

In a press release, the Spaniard began by wishing #88 a speedy recovery: ‘First of all, I want to send Miguel my best wishes for a speedy recovery. I hope he can be back soon’.

Regarding his participation in the Americas GP, Fernández said: ‘I also want to thank Yamaha and Pramac for this opportunity. Austin is an awesome track, and I can’t wait to be back riding the M1. I am really looking forward to starting the race weekend’.

In 2023 and 2024, Fernández competed full-time in MotoGP with Tech3, riding the KTM RC16. However, his results and performances fell short of expectations, and he lost his spot for 2025. He then became a test rider for Yamaha, gaining the opportunity to familiarize himself with the YZR-M1 during pre-season testing.

Three weeks have passed since Jorge Martín suffered serious injuries to his left hand and arm, keeping him off the track. The Aprilia rider has already missed the Thailand and Argentina GPs and will also sit out Austin next week.

On social media, the Spaniard opened up about his struggles: ‘Honestly, the last few weeks were quite tough, I’ve been struggling a lot […]. As you know, I had this first injury in Malaysia, after that I was recovering pretty fast. I started to train again and then I had this big impact while training supermoto, that was much bigger’.

Martín then said: ‘After the first injury, as you know in Malaysia test, I was recovering pretty fast and I started to train again, I was feeling good. I trained supermoto before Thailand, and I had this big impact that was really heavy, let’s say. It was a really difficult time, but now I start to see a bit more the light’.

With recovery progressing faster, the reigning champion has resumed training. He also reflected on his injuries and made some promises to his fans:

The most serious injury I had was the radius and the scaphoid, and on top of that I had four fractures on my left foot and also some muscular injury on my ribs. So, for sure, it wasn’t an easy injury at all. If there is anything that I can say, it’s that I will give my 100% to be back in my best version, I will give my 100% to learn from my mistakes as I try to do always, and I will be back as soon as possible.

Francesco Bagnaia’s MotoGP season hasn’t started as planned, with his Ducati teammate Marc Márquez winning the first two races. Unable to put up a strong fight, Bagnaia is already more than 30 points behind in the championship standings.

However, Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali believes this situation won’t last long. Speaking to GPOne.com, he highlighted key factors to consider:

– I think Pecco started with two races that weren’t among his strongest. He finished winter testing with some difficulties that weren’t his fault, so we’re still not seeing his full potential.

The Italian executive is convinced that Bagnaia will bounce back from the Qatar GP onward: ‘I’m convinced that in the next few races, perhaps not in Austin since it’s a track particularly suited to Marc, but from Qatar onward, we will see a different championship’.

Yamaha is currently the weakest manufacturer in MotoGP, sitting at the bottom of the standings after the first two rounds of the season. In Argentina, its best rider was Álex Rins, who finished 11th.

Despite the struggles, Yamaha Motor Racing’s Managing Director, Paolo Pavesio, highlighted some encouraging takeaways: ‘The weekend has been challenging, but we can see some positive points. I’m mainly referring to the single lap speed, we’ve proven it on Saturday with two riders [going] directly into Q2. For sure, the bike has improved it’s absolute speed’.

However, the Italian acknowledged the need for better race performance: ‘However, the weekend has been complicated as far as the race pace is concerned. We have to find a good balance in order to properly exploit our potential and to properly manage the traction out of the corner. This has affected the overall performance of our riders’.

Pavesio reaffirmed Yamaha’s ambitions and motivation for the GP of the Americas: ‘We aim for more, and this is why we are motivated to go back working and somehow happy that in a couple of weeks we are going to race again in Austin’.

There are concerns about the gap to the front runners and the inconsistency in performance. However, the Argentine GP also revealed some promising aspects.

Hervé Poncharal, owner of Red Bull KTM Tech3, told GPOne.com that the RC16’s engine is a strong asset, which could be a key advantage in the upcoming races:

Our powerful engine will help us in Austin and Doha. Maverick [Viñales] battled against Jack Miller on the Pramac Yamaha for several laps in Termas, and afterward, he told us: the powerful engine is clearly our strong point. This will help us in Texas.

Marc Márquez has dominated the first two MotoGP races of the season with Ducati. However, Francesco Bagnaia is facing more difficulties on the other side of the garage.

The Italian rider finished third in Thailand and fourth in Argentina, struggling to compete with both Marc and Álex Márquez (BK8 Gresini/Ducati). Bagnaia is even considering switching from the Desmosedici GP25 back to the GP24. Ducati’s General Manager, Gigi Dall’Igna, admitted on LinkedIn that he is not satisfied with the current situation:

– [It’s] saddening me as much as Marc’s overpowering start thrills me. I will not be satisfied with our results, no matter how excellent they already are, until we have provided him with the possibility of showing his full potential on the track, allowing him to contend on an equal footing and to occupy the positions he deserves in the battle between champions.

The engineer assured that Ducati is fully committed to providing Bagnaia with the best conditions: ‘We are working relentlessly on this, satisfying steps have been taken this weekend, but there is still work to be done before the goal is reached, and I can assure everyone that our best efforts will be pitched to reach this as soon as possible’.

Dall’Igna added: ‘With all due respect, Pecco cannot and should not have to work so hard for a third place, moreover without attaining it, even allowing for the fact that this is a track anything but congenial to him’.

This start of the MotoGP season has seen Ducati, unsurprisingly, take centre stage, but probably not with the riders in exactly the “order” that was expected, as Pecco Bagnaia has been beaten by the duo Márquez, Marc and Álex respectively.

The former Spanish rider is always very attentive to the reality of MotoGP and in the Dura La Vita podcast, quote by Motosan, he had spoken about how Marc Márquez has for now subdued the Italian, former two-time world champion with Ducati.

However, Xaus believes that Bagnaia will bounce back and return to the level expected of him, although he will end up being partly «dependent»… on the will of the Márquez brothers: ‘I agree that he will recover and that he will race and that everything will be fine, but it will also depend on how much Marc or Alex will let him do this’.

For Xaus, it will also be important for the brother duo, from Ducati and Gresini Racing respectively, that Bagnaia is also at a high and competitive level: ‘Because perhaps it would be convenient for them to have Pecco do his big race of the weekend in some races’.

After two rounds, #63 has 43 points, Álex has 58 and Marc has 74.
