Two rounds, one win and one second place. This is how Manuel González’s season in the intermediate category in 2025 is for now, he is leading the championship and has (for now) the same number of victories achieved as in 2024, but this year he promises not to stop there.

The Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP rider won the Thailand GP, the opening round of the world championship, and was second in Argentina, beaten on Sunday by rival Jake Dixon (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team) but despite the British rider’s victory it was the 22-year-old Spaniard who cemented his place as leader, for now, in the category.

For now, this start to the championship is promising and raises expectations regarding what the #18 can do, especially if we look at what he did in 2024: the first (and only) victory of last season took place in Japan, in the final phase of the year and before that, the then QJMotor Gresini Moto2 rider had only one podium (third place) in the Portuguese GP and a second in Italy. He would later achieve second place again at the end of the season in Barcelona.

Now with the GP of the Americas as the next event on the calendar, the challenge promises to be immense, especially if we look at the 13th he achieved in 2024. What is certain is that González’s 45 points have attracted the spotlight in Moto2, with Dixon in second and a total of 34 points, one more than Arón Canet (Fantic Racing LINO SONEGO).
