The Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP rider won the Thailand GP, the opening round of the world championship, and was second in Argentina, beaten on Sunday by rival Jake Dixon (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team) but despite the British rider’s victory it was the 22-year-old Spaniard who cemented his place as leader, for now, in the category.
For now, this start to the championship is promising and raises expectations regarding what the #18 can do, especially if we look at what he did in 2024: the first (and only) victory of last season took place in Japan, in the final phase of the year and before that, the then QJMotor Gresini Moto2 rider had only one podium (third place) in the Portuguese GP and a second in Italy. He would later achieve second place again at the end of the season in Barcelona.
Now with the GP of the Americas as the next event on the calendar, the challenge promises to be immense, especially if we look at the 13th he achieved in 2024. What is certain is that González’s 45 points have attracted the spotlight in Moto2, with Dixon in second and a total of 34 points, one more than Arón Canet (Fantic Racing LINO SONEGO).

]]>After dominating Moto3 last season, David Alonso arrives in Moto2 as one of the most promising young talents of the moment. However, the start to his season has been difficult for the CFMOTO Aspar rider.
Adapting to the Kalex machine in the intermediate class has proven to be quite a challenge for the Colombian. After two rounds, he has yet to score points, with 20th place in Argentina being his best result so far.
Meanwhile, his teammate Daniel Holgado – who is also making his Moto2 debut this year – is sitting in seventh place in the championship, having finished both of the season’s first races in the top ten.
In Termas de Río Hondo, Alonso made progress in understanding the bike. However, he faced even more difficulties in the race, as he explained: ‘All the good feeling I had this weekend I couldn’t find it in the race and there are things that didn’t happen in the rest of the sessions. I couldn’t brake hard because I was going off the back and when I accelerated I stayed in place. I tried, I tried to stay on the pace during all the laps and to make sure that the riders in front of me didn’t go away’.
This is indeed the worst start to a season for the rookie. In 2023, in Moto3, despite retiring from the first race, he managed 14th place in the second round, gradually improving from then on. Before joining the World Championships full-time, his worst start was a sixth place in the 2019 European Talent Cup.

The British rider, racing in the Elf Marc VDS Racing Team colors, spoke in parc fermé about his victory at Termas de Río Hondo: ‘Honestly, I can’t believe it, it feels like a dream. I knew I had a good pace but I didn’t know I had such a good pace’.
And he gave credit to the team, while not forgetting that there is room for all parties to grow: ‘It’s not me, it’s Marc VDS and this team, they are simply incredible. We worked tirelessly to get the bike to where it needs to be this weekend. We’re not yet 100% where we need to be. I said we would need three or four races to understand everything, me and the team’.
And he concluded: ‘This [victory] is for Marc Van der Straten who is at home, I know he is at home and enjoyed it […]’.

]]>What a race Jake Dixon has just had in Moto2 for the Argentinian GP! The Briton moved to the front early on and never relinquished it, leading the race at Termas de Río Hondo from start to finish, controlling events, and always pushing hard, to take victory by a wide margin!
Everything was in place for the start of the Moto2 race in Argentina, with Manuel González starting from pole position and joined by Jake Dixon and Marcos Ramírez on the front row, while Álex Escrig, Diogo Moreira and Filip Salac made up the second row.
González had a strong start and made the most of his qualifying position, but Dixon would move into the lead shortly afterwards. Ramírez was third, Salac fourth and Celestino Vietti fifth, but he was beaten by Áron Canet, who dropped the Italian to sixth.
In the opposite direction was Adrián Huertas, who crashed early on, at the end of the first sector, and was thus out of the race.
Salac, meanwhile, was on the attack and beat Ramírez and then González to second place, thus confirming his gain of four positions. Among the riders in the top ten, only Canet, with five positions, had gained the most places. Izán Guevara was 12th and had recovered 11 positions, while Escrig, 14th, had lost 10.
With three laps completed, Darryn Binder was the next to beat Vietti, who dropped to seventh. Guevara was already tenth.
In the fight for second place, González gave Salac his manoeuvre and was back in second place, but more than five tenths behind Dixon.
Dixon was on fire and twice in a row he set the fastest lap in the GP, the last time in 1:42.042s, and then improved to 1:41.840s. González, just behind, was lapping in 1:41.997s.
Moreira, meanwhile, went to the team garage with problems with the front of his bike, but eventually returned to action.
And four times in a row Dixon set the fastest lap, now in 1:41.639s. The Briton from ELF Marc VDS Racing Teams had a 1.071s lead over González. Canet was already third and Ramírez fourth, ahead of Salac who rounded off the top five for the time being.
With a third of the race done, that was the top ten:
The race was on and soon reached the halfway point and Dixon was in control ahead of González, while the fight for third place was hot and with negative news for Marc VDS: Salac in a fight with Ramírez ended up on the ground after trying to overtake the #24 on the inside at turn 5.

With this fall Vietti was promoted to fourth, and Binder was now fifth. Dixon was 1.9s ahead of González, and Vietti was now the new third-placed rider after beating Canet, who saw the Italian 0.102s behind.
And the fight for third was raging, with Vietti going wide and Canet not faltering, thus passing the #13 and reaching the podium places.
The battle between Canet and Vietti had a new chapter, with the Spaniard being overtaken once again with five laps to go.
With three laps to go, only disaster could prevent Dixon from winning at Termas de Río Hondo. The Briton had a 3.6s lead over González. Vietti was 0.324s ahead of Canet.
Unsurprisingly, Dixon confirmed his victory, which he achieved in categorical fashion!

]]>Manuel González was the fastest in the intermediate category qualifying and will thus start tomorrow’s Moto2 race in Argentina from first place. Jake Dixon tried and was a real adversary, but the Spaniard from LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP did not yield.
In Q1, Celestino Vietti set the pace with the best time and joined the group of riders already directly qualified for Q2, along with Álex Escrig, Filip Salac, and Diogo Moreira.
With the first fast laps being complicated, Jake Dixon and Vietti were the fastest, with Manu González in third, Tony Arbolino in fourth, and Zonta Goorbergh in fifth. González would soon move to the front of the session, just before the usual stop and final preparations for the attack on pole position, after a lap in 1:41.120s, which left Dixon 0.068s behind.
And after the final preparations and adjustments to try to reach pole position, the riders returned to the track with González in their sights, and Dixon once again took the lead of the session by removing 0.050s from González’s record.
About a minute later, Escrig rose to second position, but it was González who would retaliate, with a lap in 1:40.870s, returning to the lead of qualifying.
Shortly after, the session came to an end with González not being beaten, thus securing pole position!

The KLINT Forward Factory Team rider, who this year is back in Moto2 full-time after giving good indications last year when he was called up, had a crash that could have had more painful consequences for the Spaniard.
However, he ended up getting up on his own feet and apparently was without any injuries, despite having been on the ground for a while.
Now watch the rider go down during Moto2 Q1:

]]>The second free practice session for the Moto2 Argentina GP could hardly have been more competitive. Jake Dixon led by just 73 thousandths of a second, despite being at the top for nearly the entire session.
The Elf Marc VDS rider took the lead from his first flying lap, setting the fastest time of FP2 on his second attempt with a 1m41.486s lap. His rivals improved towards the end, but no one managed to surpass him.
Barry Baltus (Fantic Racing Lino Sonego/Kalex) came closest, just 0.073s behind, followed by his teammate Arón Canet. Manuel González (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP/Kalex) finished fourth after dominating the previous day.
Deniz Öncü (Red Bull KTM Ajo/Kalex) completed the top five. Some of the expected frontrunners, such as Diogo Moreira (Italtrans Racing Team/Kalex) and Tony Arbolino (bLU cRU Pramac Yamaha), finished further down the standings in an FP2 session that primarily serves as preparation before qualifying and the race.

In the first ten minutes, Jake Dixon (Elf Marc VDS/Boscoscuro) initially broke the lap record. However, shortly after, Diogo Moreira (Italtrans Racing Team) suffered a heavy crash, causing significant damage to his Kalex. He only returned to the track in the final minutes.
With 19 minutes to go, Alonso López (Team HDR Heidrun/Boscoscuro) became the first rider to clock a lap in the 1m41s at Termas de Río Hondo in Moto2.
However, with three minutes remaining, González (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) set the fastest lap at 1m41.713s, securing the new lap record.
López couldn’t improve and finished 0.160s behind. The Spaniard later suffered a highside crash near the end, bringing out the red flag and ending the session 1m16s early.
Dixon finished third, followed by Marcos Ramírez (OnlyFans American Racing Team/Kalex) and Barry Baltus (Fantic Racing Lino Sonego/Kalex), who edged out his teammate Arón Canet.
Deniz Öncü (Red Bull KTM Ajo) secured 14th place, grabbing the last direct spot into Q2. After missing most of the session due to bike damage, Moreira finished 15th, just 0.082s short of qualifying directly.

]]>The Intact GP team had an excellent opening morning at the Argentina GP, with Manuel González setting the fastest time in Moto2’s first free practice – mirroring David Muñoz’s achievement in Moto3.
The session started on a damp track, with Jake Dixon (Elf Marc VDS/Boscoscuro) leading early on, setting the fastest times in his first two flying laps. Mario Aji (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia/Kalex) and Tony Arbolino (bLU cRU Pramac Yamaha/Kalex) were also among the frontrunners.
Alonso López (Team HDR Heidrun/Boscoscuro), Joe Roberts (OnlyFans American Racing Team/Kalex), and Marcos Ramírez (OnlyFans American Racing Team/Kalex) joined the battle at the top. However, Dixon appeared in a league of his own, being the first to dip into the 1m53s range and establishing a gap of over one and a half seconds.
With 22 minutes to go, Ramírez and then Arbolino surpassed Dixon, as improving track conditions led to faster lap times. Arbolino briefly held the lead, but the standings kept shifting rapidly.
As the session entered its final minutes, Dixon reclaimed P1, followed closely by Aji and López. Diogo Moreira (Italtrans Racing Team/Kalex) also joined the front group and even took the lead for a moment before González (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) made his move.
With under four minutes remaining, Dixon was back on top, but with times tumbling, the leaderboard continued to change. In the final moments, González posted a 1m44.147s lap to claim P1, with Arbolino just 0.089s behind in second. Dixon had to settle for third, followed by Canet in fourth and Moreira completing the top five.

This is a technical partnership, where Yamaha Brasil will provide training bikes for the rider – such as the YZF450 for off-road (flat track, supermoto, motocross) and the YZF-R1 and YZF-R6 for asphalt tracks.
The MotoGP World Championships are generating more and more excitement in Brazil, which will return to the calendar next year. The Autódromo Internacional Ayrton Senna Goiânia will host the Brazilian Grand Prix.
This year, Moreira is seen as one of the main contenders for the title in Moto2, especially after the excellent end-of-season performance he had in 2024 – even securing his first podium in the category.
The Brazilian stayed with the Italtrans Racing Team and with a Kalex bike. Last Sunday, he started the season with a promising fourth place in the Thai GP.
