Ángel Piqueras claimed victory in Sunday’s Moto3 Argentina GP race. The race was thrilling until the very end, with absolute uncertainty in the battle for the win.

Ryusei Yamanaka (Frinsa-MT Helmets-MSi/KTM) took the holeshot, but by the middle of the first lap, he had lost four positions. David Almansa (Leopard Racing/Honda) moved into the lead, chased by the two Red Bull KTM Ajo riders, Álvaro Carpe and José Antonio Rueda… who overtook their rival on the second lap, taking advantage of Almansa running wide at Turn 1.

But the #22 did not give up, and on the following lap, he fought back against Carpe and Rueda to retake the lead. Yamanaka remained in fourth, and the top 11 riders were separated by less than a second, causing constant changes in the standings. At the start of lap four, Riccardo Rossi (Rivacold Snipers Team/Honda) moved into the podium positions, swapping places with Rueda.

On lap six, Almansa was at the front, managing to open a slight gap over Rueda, who in turn had about three-tenths of a second ahead of Matteo Bertelle (LevelUp-MTA/KTM). However, midway through the race, Almansa lost two positions, and his teammate, Adrián Fernández, briefly took the lead.

The constant position changes continued. With eight laps to go before the checkered flag, none of the top five riders had ever won in the World Championship: Almansa, Taiyo Furusato (Honda Team Asia), Bertelle, Carpe, and Fernández.

In the final laps, Bertelle pulled ahead at the front, but Piqueras (Frinsa-MT Helmets-MSi/KTM) never gave up until the very end. The Italian made a costly mistake on the last lap.

Piqueras and Rueda seized the opportunity, moving into the top two positions. Piqueras secured the victory, while Fernández overtook Rueda in the closing moments to finish second, just 0.036s behind the winner. Bertelle finished fourth, and Furusato took fifth after a last-lap penalty.

The Argentina GP had its first race of the day ending a few moments ago, in Moto3, and as usual there was a lot of fighting and battles until the end, with the excitement running high to the limit… and with a surprise!

Ángel Piqueras attacked for victory at the end but some questions remained in the air regarding an illegality he allegedly committed, by touching the green part of the track on the last lap, and the Race Directorate chose not to sanction the driver and confirm his victory.

It’s best to let the reader see for himself the attack towards the end by the FRINSA – MT Helmets – MSI rider:

Matteo Bertelle was the fastest on track in Moto3 qualifying at the Argentine GP, and in double dose. After reaching Q2 via Q1, the LEVELUP-MTA rider once again secured a pole position.

Everything was set for Moto3 Q2 in Argentina, with rain threatening to hit Termas de Río Hondo! Matteo Bertelle was the fastest in Q1 and secured the right to fight for pole position, along with Marcos Uriarte, Taiyo Furusato, and Adrián Cruces.

And it was precisely Bertelle who stood out after the first fast laps with 1:46.425s, with Joel Esteban being the only one yet to register any lap.

With about four laps from practically all riders, Bertelle was still the fastest, with Riccardo Rossi 0.306s behind as the closest, while Álvaro Carpe was third at 0.366s.

The session was halfway through, and the riders were in the garage preparing for the attack on pole position in Argentina.

And on their return, the riders quickly began preparing for the final attack, with Rossi and Scott Ogden having an intense moment on track, which resulted in both riders going down in the third sector, two minutes from the end. With the yellow flag in the air, it remained to be seen how this would impact the remaining riders, as Rossi and Ogden’s session would not return to qualifying.

The two immediately showed their displeasure with what happened on track.

The incident was analyzed by Race Direction, which decided not to apply any penalties.

Shortly after, the session ended with Ángel Piqueras reaching second position, while Ryusei Yamanaka secured the front row.

Moto3 free practice sessions for the Argentina GP have concluded, with Matteo Bertelle leading this morning’s session at Termas de Río Hondo.

All riders improved their times compared to FP1, but not in relation to Friday afternoon’s practice, even because the track was still damp during that first session of the weekend.

After the first flying laps, Bertelle (LevelUp-MTA/KTM) took the lead, reinforcing his position and holding it for more than a quarter of an hour before being overtaken by José Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo).

David Muñoz (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP/KTM) also briefly led before Bertelle set the fastest time of FP2 with a 1m46.303s lap, just under three minutes from the end. Muñoz finished second, 0.741s behind.

Stefano Nepa (SIC58 Squadra Corse/Honda) improved at the last moment to secure third place, followed by Rueda and Riccardo Rossi (Rivacold Snipers Team/Honda), who completed the top five.

David Almansa was the fastest on Friday at the Argentina GP Moto3, leading the afternoon practice session. The lap record for the Termas de Río Hondo circuit was clearly broken.

The track conditions were much improved compared to Free Practice 1, which resulted in a significant improvement in lap times.

After five minutes, the session was led by Joel Kelso (LevelUp-MTA/KTM), but at that point, the leader from FP1, David Muñoz (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP), suffered a fall. Matteo Bertelle (LevelUp-MTA/KTM) also crashed, which triggered a red flag. Fortunately, there were no major injuries to the riders.

When the session resumed, the times began to change rapidly. Ryusei Yamanaka (Frinsa-MT Helmets-MSi/KTM) moved to the top before being overtaken by Almansa (Leopard Racing/Honda) in the final 15 minutes.

As the session continued, times kept improving, especially in the last ten minutes, which caused a shake-up in the leaderboard. With less than five minutes to go, Almansa set the fastest lap with a time of 1m46.981s.

This time also set a new overall circuit record: the top 16 riders broke the previous lap record, which had stood since 2022. Álvaro Carpe (Red Bull KTM Ajo) finished second, 0.364s behind Almansa, followed by his teammate José Antonio Rueda.

The top 14 riders from this session directly advanced to the second phase of qualifying. The final spot in this group was claimed by Nicola Carraro (Rivacold Snipers Team/Honda), who was 0.086s faster than the 15th-place finisher, Muñoz.

David Muñoz led the first free practice session of the Argentina GP in Moto3 this morning. The paddock returns to Termas de Río Hondo after two years, with several riders experiencing the track for the first time.

On a cool and very humid morning with tricky conditions, David Almansa (Leopard Racing/Honda) initially led the session, with Muñoz (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP/KTM) in second. Within the first ten minutes, lap times dropped below the two-minute mark, and José Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) moved into second—before Muñoz reclaimed the position.

With around 18 minutes remaining, Rueda took the top spot, only to be overtaken by Ángel Piqueras (Frinsa-MT Helmets-MSi/KTM). However, the #36 didn’t stay in front for long, as Almansa went faster with ten minutes to go.

The final six minutes saw a sharp drop in lap times and constant changes in the order. Almansa also improved and held the lead until the final minute when the fastest laps of the session came in.

Ultimately, Muñoz set the pace, completing his final lap in 1m57.363s. Rueda improved to take second, 0.261s behind, while Almansa finished third, 0.434s back. Scott Ogden (CIP Green Power/KTM) set his best time late in the session to secure fourth, and Adrián Fernández (Leopard Racing/Honda) rounded out the top five.

Leadership at the beginning, a brief moment out of the lead, but then the recovery and no longer his surrender. This was Jose Antonio Rueda’s race today in Buriram, with the KTM Ajo rider taking victory in the opening round of the championship.

In the closed park, the driver was happy with the triumph achieved, this being a very positive way to start the year, and with a word to Álvaro Carpe: ‘Starting like this is fantastic and I can’t describe it. I’m very happy with the team, very happy and proud, and also with my teammate. It’s the second or third time I’ve been on the podium with my teammate and I’m very happy with him.’

And the Spaniard knows the recipe for success: ‘I’m happy to have started like this and now it’s time to keep working’.

Rueda achieved something very rare in the category, finishing with an advantage of more than 7s in Moto3.

Jose Antonio Rueda left no room for doubt about his intentions in the Moto3 World Championship opener as he claimed a very comfortable victory in Buriram, with second place being contested until the end, in a race constantly marked by many incidents: 11 riders did not finish.

Everything was set for the start of Moto3, the first race of this Sunday and this new MotoGP season!

Jose Antonio Rueda initially led the race but was soon overtaken by Matteo Bertelle, with Álvaro Carpe in third position for now. Rueda would return to the lead, before Eddie O’Shea and Cormac Buchanan went down at turn 12, which has affected so many riders during the weekend. O’Shea ended his race while Buchanan continued.

David Muñoz, having gained eight positions, was rising and was now in second, and Ryusei Yamanaka moved up to third after a double overtake on Luca Lunetta and Bertelle.

Bertelle and Muñoz then had a series of position exchanges, fighting for second place, but Yamanaka was in the battle and he too climbed to, and later lost, the vice-leadership in the race. Tatchakorn Buasri shortly after also fell and was out of the race.

With 12 laps to go, Rueda yielded the lead to Lunetta, but responded immediately after and returned to “his” position. Taiyo Furusato was another casualty in the race.

Soon after, Lunetta went off track following a somewhat more aggressive maneuver by Muñoz, with the incident placed under investigation.

Yamanaka saw disaster knocking at his door when he was well positioned to be in the fight for victory, but he lost the front of his bike at turn 5 and was out of the race. Nine laps remained until the end. Nicola Carraro in the following lap was also out.

And Muñoz received a Long Lap penalty for irresponsible riding.

Rueda continued at the front, with Muñoz crashing with six laps to go at turn 3.

Ángel Piqueras was the next to fall, in an incident with Joel Kelso at turn 12, once again, and Carpe went wide. Rueda was launched into the lead and only a disaster could prevent him from winning, as the Spaniard had more than a 4-second advantage over Stefano Nepa.

Unsurprisingly, the race then ended with Rueda sealing victory in Buriram, in the championship opener, in categorical fashion!

Matteo Bertelle made history this Saturday at the Thai GP, finally achieving his first pole position in the Moto3 World Championship. The qualifying session was tight, with the top two separated by less than a tenth of a second.

In Q1, 12 riders fought for one of the last four spots in the top qualifiers. The fastest was rookie Álvaro Carpe (Red Bull KTM Ajo), ahead of local rider Tatchakorn Buasri (Honda Team Asia).

Also advancing were Dennis Foggia (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar/KTM) and Eddie O’Shea (GRYD-MLav Racing/Honda). An objective that Ruche Moodley (DENSSI Racing-BOE/KTM) missed by 0.198s, finishing fifth.

The pole position was decided very early in Q2. Bertelle (LevelUp-MTA/KTM) didn’t set the fastest lap, but on his first attempt, he posted a time that proved unbeatable.

His rivals tried but failed to surpass him. The closest was Stefano Nepa (SIC58 Squadra Corse/Honda), just 82 thousandths behind. Valentin Perrone (Red Bull KTM Tech3) secured third place in his debut, 0.482s off the pole position. José Antônio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) was fourth.
