Matteo Bertelle made history this Saturday at the Thai GP, finally achieving his first pole position in the Moto3 World Championship. The qualifying session was tight, with the top two separated by less than a tenth of a second.

In Q1, 12 riders fought for one of the last four spots in the top qualifiers. The fastest was rookie Álvaro Carpe (Red Bull KTM Ajo), ahead of local rider Tatchakorn Buasri (Honda Team Asia).

Also advancing were Dennis Foggia (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar/KTM) and Eddie O’Shea (GRYD-MLav Racing/Honda). An objective that Ruche Moodley (DENSSI Racing-BOE/KTM) missed by 0.198s, finishing fifth.

The pole position was decided very early in Q2. Bertelle (LevelUp-MTA/KTM) didn’t set the fastest lap, but on his first attempt, he posted a time that proved unbeatable.

His rivals tried but failed to surpass him. The closest was Stefano Nepa (SIC58 Squadra Corse/Honda), just 82 thousandths behind. Valentin Perrone (Red Bull KTM Tech3) secured third place in his debut, 0.482s off the pole position. José Antônio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) was fourth.
