José Antonio Rueda set the pace in the second free practice session of the Moto3 Thai GP, held this Saturday in Buriram – a session that no longer counted towards determining direct qualifiers for the second phase of qualifying.

After the initial flying laps, Adrián Fernández (Leopard Racing/Honda) was at the top of the timesheets, holding the position for over 13 minutes until he was surpassed by Rueda.

The Spanish rider from Red Bull KTM Ajo put together a sequence of two fast laps and set a new circuit record (1m40.350s). He remained unbeaten until the end of the session. Fernández improved but finished 0.156s behind, with Stefano Nepa (SIC58 Squadra Corse/Honda) in third, 0.305s adrift.

The top five was completed by Joel Kelso (LevelUp-MTA/KTM) and David Almansa (Leopard Racing/Honda), ahead of rookie Álvaro Carpe (Red Bull KTM Ajo). Matteo Bertelle (LevelUp-MTA/KTM), who led Friday’s session, could only manage 11th place in FP2.
