The 14 Moto3 riders guaranteed entry to Q2 are now in, with Matteo Bertelle setting the tone and being the only one to ride in the second 40 in the rookie class. As the action got underway, there was also no shortage of crashes, of which there were a few, but they weren’t serious.

Everything was in place for the first Moto3 session “for real” in terms of who could go straight through to Q2, with the top 14 achieving just that, so it was important to give everything this Friday.

Guido Pini crashed early on, but not seriously for the rider, who was thus the first to go down in the session with less than five minutes to go.

Immune to the #94’s crash, Taiyo Furusato – who crashed in FP1 – was leading the session for the time being, while the riders were still trying to get into the rhythm of what was expected ahead.

In fact, many times were being canceled due to the yellow flag following Pini’s crash.

And Adrian Fernández, who also crashed, but less than Ruche Moodley, fortunately without any major consequences for the rider.

A brief pit-stop followed, before the drivers got back to work, at a stage when David Muñoz was the leader, ahead of Angel Piqueras, with Furusato third.

Jose Antonio Rueda also briefly moved into the lead before Piqueras returned to the front of the session with a 1:41.269s, while Ryusei Yamanaka moved up to third.

Luca Lunetta was the next to fall, not seriously in turn 10, and he got up straight away.

With 15 minutes to go, Yamanaka was leading the session with a time of 1:41.230s.

In the next few minutes, the 13th fastest rider, Tatchakorn Buasri, also crashed and was another to start the year with a fall, and a couple of minutes later David Almansa also felt the gravel of the Chang circuit.

With four minutes to go, Bertelle had taken the lead and was first into the second 40, in 1:40.931s, ahead of Stefano Nepa who was 0.235s behind.

Adrián Fernández crashed again and had to return to the team’s pit box, bringing his session to an end.

The session ended shortly afterwards, with the 14 drivers who had made it through to Q2 having been found:
