Toprak Razgatlioglu, current Superbike World Champion, was one of the highlights of the season’s opening weekend at Phillip Island, but not for the best reasons, given his strong criticism of the championship organization, feeling that Ducati is somehow favored.

Álvaro Bautista, on the other hand, former champion of the category, went against his rival’s statements and presented a viewpoint that goes beyond the capabilities of his motorcycle and in words to SPEEDWEEK.com highlighted the fundamental role of riders in Ducati’s success: ‘Although there were six Ducatis, it’s also important to consider the riders who were at the controls’.

Recalling the manufacturer’s rider lineup, across various teams, Bautista said: ‘We have Nicolò Bulega, Supersport world champion and world runner-up in 2024, Andrea Iannone, who claimed many victories in Moto2 and also won in MotoGP, besides Danilo Petrucci. And Ducati also has me, who am 125cc World Champion and two-time Superbike champion’.

The Spaniard was categorical in stating that Ducati’s superiority results from a combination of technological innovation and human talent: ‘Everyone talks about the bike, but it’s not just that, it’s also the riders. Ducati is a good bike because Ducati constantly works on improvements, and if you have good riders, then it’s clear what the result will be’.

And he concluded, leaving a “hint” for BMW: ‘It cannot be our problem if other manufacturers don’t invest in the best riders’.
