MTM Kawasaki, a five-time world champion team in the World Supersport 300 category, has confirmed its plans for 2025, announcing the contract renewal with Italian rider Mirko Gennai and the signing of young Australian Carter Thompson. The team led by Ludo Van Der Veken will also manage the Kawasaki Junior Team by MTM, an extension of its main project, with Czech rider Petr Svoboda and Spanish newcomer Roberto Fernandez.

A Promising Lineup for 2025

After securing their fifth consecutive team title in the World Supersport 300 Championship, MTM Kawasaki moves into 2025 with a lineup that combines experience and youth. Mirko Gennai, a key player in the team’s success in 2024, where he accumulated three wins and four podiums, remains with the structure to complete the work started in the previous season. Alongside him will be 17-year-old Carter Thompson, who has already demonstrated talent by securing two podiums and a pole position in his four appearances last season. Thompson will now make his debut as a full-time rider.

Kawasaki Junior Team by MTM: Investing in the New Generation

Reinforcing their commitment to developing new talent, MTM Kawasaki takes on the management of the Kawasaki Junior Team by MTM. In this structure, the two Kawasaki Ninja 400 bikes will be handed to Petr Svoboda, a race winner in previous years who faced a difficult 2024 season due to an injury from which he is currently recovering. The Czech rider will be joined by Roberto Fernandez, a young Spanish prospect who, after some wildcard appearances, will make his full-time debut in the championship.

Farewell to a Dominated Category

The 2025 season will be the last for the Supersport 300 category in the World Superbike Championship, and MTM Kawasaki is determined to close this chapter with a golden key. With a history marked by undisputed dominance, the Belgian team wants to leave its definitive mark on this class.

Ludo Van Der Veken, team manager, showed confidence in the new lineup:

– Finally we can reveal our 2025 plans and I’m really happy about the lineup we will have in World Supersport 300. I’m glad we could confirm Mirko, as we had a very strong first year together, as well as adding to the team a strong young rider like Carter Thompson, who is already a podium finisher in his first appearances in World Supersport 300. I’m really happy also to be able to welcome two more riders to our family with Kawasaki Junior Team by MTM, with Petr Svoboda, already a race winner in this championship with a great potential to show, and Roberto Fernandez, who will make his debut with us and I’m sure he can grow up a lot during this first season together with us. I want to thank all our sponsors and partners and especially Kawasaki Europe for the strong support into this project.

With Mirko Gennai, Carter Thompson, Petr Svoboda, and Roberto Fernandez ready for the challenge, MTM Kawasaki prepares to close this era with the same winning spirit that has characterized it throughout the years.
