The MX2 category also delivered a spectacular show at the 2025 season opener in Villa La Angostura, Córdoba, with challenging track conditions due to heavy rain the night before. With the track drying throughout the day, riders faced distinct challenges in each of the races.

Race 1: Kay de Wolf Starts the Year with a Win

Kay de Wolf took the lead after grabbing the holeshot and gave no chances to his opponents, winning authoritatively on his factory Husqvarna. Simon Laengenfelder showed consistency and secured second place aboard his KTM, while Cas Valk shined by claiming third position with his Van Venrooy KTM.

David Braceras had an excellent race with a good start and crossed the finish line in fourth on his JM Honda. Camden McLellan had to recover after a poor start and put on a great performance, finishing fifth after overtaking teammate Guillem Farres.

Andrea Adamo, one of the favorites, had a disastrous start, losing time at the starting gate. When he was already in sixth, his bike experienced mechanical problems, resulting in a frustrating retirement. Liam Everts had a solid performance to finish eighth, behind Valerio Lata. Sacha Coenen crashed in the first lap but still managed to finish ninth. Meanwhile, Mathis Valin, who had been battling for the lead with de Wolf, suffered a serious crash and abandoned the race.

Race 2: Sacha Coenen Flew to Victory

In the second race, Sacha Coenen started in front and never looked back, winning dominantly. Valerio Lata surprised by maintaining second place in the early laps but was overtaken by Laengenfelder, who seemed on track for the overall GP victory.

However, Kay de Wolf made a crucial mistake by crashing while trying to overtake Andrea Adamo, compromising his chances of winning the overall. To make matters worse, Laengenfelder also suffered two crashes and handed the GP lead to de Wolf, who finished the second race in fifth position, just behind the impressive Mathis Valin.

Liam Everts had an impressive performance, securing a notable third place, considering there were doubts about his participation until just days before the race.

With consistency throughout both races, Kay de Wolf left Argentina with the red plate and the championship lead. However, the competition promises to be fierce, with several riders showing potential to fight for the title throughout the season.
