Ken Roczen made history by securing his first AMA Supercross 450 victory in Daytona, in a race filled with emotion and challenges. The Main Event began with Jason Anderson taking the lead, closely followed by Aaron Plessinger, Cooper Webb, and Roczen. Chase Sexton, hampered by a poor starting grid position, began the race in 14th place and had to recover ground.

Plessinger showed excellent pace and managed to overtake Anderson, taking the lead. Meanwhile, Roczen began to stand out, overtaking Webb and Anderson in succession, placing himself in direct contention for the victory. Demonstrating great speed in the whoops, the German pressured Plessinger until he achieved a decisive overtake, taking command of the race.

Cooper Webb tried to respond, overtaking Plessinger and reducing the gap to Roczen. However, a mistake exiting a turn caused him to lose crucial time, allowing the leader to consolidate his position. Chase Sexton, after a great recovery, also managed to pass Plessinger, but Webb reacted quickly to hold onto second place.

In the final moments, Roczen remained calm and controlled the pressure from Webb, securing a memorable victory. The podium was completed with Webb in second and Plessinger in third, after recovering the position from Sexton. Anderson, who started strong, ended up losing ground and finished outside the top 3. With this triumph, Roczen strengthens his title bid and breaks the Daytona victory taboo.

Saturday night, March 2, was the stage for a memorable race in AMA Supercross 450 at Daytona. Ken Roczen shone brightly and claimed his first-ever victory on this iconic track, withstanding pressure from fierce competitors and overcoming challenges that tested the limits of his technical and mental capacity.

The Main Event began with Jason Anderson starting at the front, securing the holeshot and leading the first laps. Aaron Plessinger, Cooper Webb, and Ken Roczen followed closely, while Chase Sexton, hampered by poor grid positioning due to having to go through the LCQ, was only in 14th position.

Webb attempted to overtake Plessinger in the very first lap, but the “Cowboy” showed firmness and maintained second position. Anderson took advantage of the moment to gain some advantage, while Sexton began his recovery, passing Justin Cooper and Malcolm Stewart to approach the leading group.

With seven minutes of the race elapsed, Plessinger demonstrated an impressive pace and launched himself into the lead. The crowd vibrated with his overtake of Anderson, but the excitement was far from over. Ken Roczen, who until then remained discreet, found his rhythm and passed Webb and Anderson in consecutive laps, positioning himself as the main contender for victory.

The race reached its most intense point halfway through the regulation time, when Roczen approached Plessinger dangerously. The German explored good lines and showed impressive speed in the whoops, pressuring the leader until finding an opening to take the front.

Meanwhile, Cooper Webb did not give up. After losing ground, he initiated a remarkable recovery and overtook Plessinger to reach second place. However, an error compromised his advance: by momentarily stagnating, he allowed Sexton to also pass Plessinger and approach. Webb reacted immediately, accelerating to escape from Sexton, while Roczen had a less successful lap, reducing the gap between them.

In the final minutes of the race, Webb put pressure on Roczen and almost touched his rear wheel. However, a crucial error when exiting a corner caused him to lose precious time, allowing Roczen to breathe and consolidate his lead.

This time, there was no comeback from Webb. Roczen, so often overcome by his rival in decisive moments, showed coolness and intelligence to hold the lead until the end. With this victory, the German rider not only broke a personal taboo in Daytona but also consolidated his position among the main title contenders.

The podium was completed by Webb and Plessinger, who managed to recover third position from Sexton in the final moments. Jason Anderson, after a promising start, ended up losing ground and finished outside the fight for the top-3.

The AMA Supercross now moves on to the next round, where riders will continue the battle for crucial championship points. If this race was an indicator of what’s to come, fans can expect more excitement and intense duels throughout the season.

The seventh round of AMA Supercross took place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, marking the season’s second Triple Crown event. Competition was intense throughout the three 450SX races, culminating in Cooper Webb’s victory, who took the championship lead.

450SX – Race 1
Justin Cooper got the best start, securing the holeshot ahead of Ken Roczen and Aaron Plessinger. Chase Sexton quickly moved up to third, while Plessinger lost ground. Justin Hill stood out, showing speed and pressuring Sexton. Cooper kept Roczen behind for most of the race, but the German managed to pass him in the final moments, securing the win. Jason Anderson was in the front group until crashing in the sand section, dropping outside the top 10. Justin Barcia recovered to fifth and Cooper Webb finished sixth. The track proved treacherous and promised more challenges throughout the night.

450SX – Race 2
In the second race, Justin Cooper again took the lead at the start, followed by the two championship leaders: Chase Sexton and Cooper Webb. Ken Roczen, this time, started further back. The top three opted to jump the whoops section, and Sexton attacked Cooper in the sand turn to take the lead. However, a mistake by Sexton allowed Cooper to retake first place. In trying to close the line, Cooper touched Sexton’s front wheel, who crashed and lost several positions. Webb took advantage to move to the front, while Anderson and Barcia got involved in an incident, with Barcia’s leg getting caught in Anderson’s bike, delaying both. Roczen recovered to fifth and Sexton managed to reach second place. Webb won the heat, tying with Sexton and Cooper at five points before the decisive race.

450SX – Race 3
The last race promised to be decisive, with five riders in contention for the overall victory. The start was marked by Aaron Plessinger, Shane McElrath and Ken Roczen in front. However, Plessinger made a mistake, allowing Roczen to take the lead. Sexton quickly approached and passed Jason Anderson to enter the fight for victory. Webb joined the front group and the battle for the win intensified.

Sexton ended up making a mistake by stalling his KTM in a 180-degree turn, handing the lead to Webb. Although still in position to win the overall, Sexton was momentarily passed by Roczen but managed to recover to second. However, contact between Sexton and Webb sent the KTM rider to the ground, who was subsequently run over by Mitchell Harrison, who couldn’t avoid the impact. To make matters worse, Sexton was also blocked by Justin Barcia in the last corner, finishing in fifth place.

Webb secured the overall victory with a solid performance (6-1-1), followed by Roczen (1-5-3) and Sexton (3-2-5). Justin Cooper and Justin Hill completed the top 5 of the round. With this result, Webb takes the championship lead with a five-point advantage over Sexton, promising more excitement for the upcoming rounds of AMA Supercross.

AMA Supercross made another electrifying stop, this time at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. The 450SX main event brought intense emotions, with fierce duels and unexpected turns that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

Aaron Plessinger grabbed the holeshot in the main event but quickly felt pressure from Ken Roczen, who took the lead in the early moments of the race. Chase Sexton had a disastrous start, getting stuck in the starting gate, which forced him into an impressive comeback throughout the race.

Meanwhile, Cooper Webb demonstrated his grit by overtaking Roczen, adding another chapter to the historic rivalry between both riders. The two riders exchanged positions several times, in a battle filled with block passes and strategic attacks. In the end, Webb managed to overcome the Suzuki rider, claiming his first victory of the season.

Despite the poor start, Chase Sexton delivered one of the best comebacks of the night. With a blistering pace, the Honda rider quickly moved up positions, eventually passing Jason Anderson in an intense battle for third place. Without his helmet visor, the result of a previous incident, Sexton ignored the adversities and secured a podium finish. Anderson, who seemed to have fourth position secured, suffered a crash after missing a triple jump, finishing only sixth.

With Anderson’s crash, Malcolm Stewart and Justin Cooper took advantage of the opportunity to complete the top five, securing good points in the overall standings. Aaron Plessinger, who started in front, couldn’t maintain the pace and ended up crossing the finish line only in ninth position.

Webb’s victory reignites the championship fight and reinforces his position as one of the season’s favorites. With intense rivalries and impressive performances, AMA Supercross continues to deliver unforgettable shows for fans of the sport.

Honda HRC Progressive 450SX rider Hunter Lawrence faces a significant setback in his AMA Supercross season. The Australian rider suffered a serious injury during the Tampa round in Florida last Saturday, which led to him undergoing surgery on his right shoulder.

Medical examinations confirmed that Lawrence has an elevated and partially torn labrum, along with multiple fractures in the humerus. The surgical intervention was scheduled for Tuesday, February 13, in Orange County, California. The expected recovery time is between eight to ten weeks, which practically confirms his absence for the remainder of the Supercross season.

The injury occurred during the heat race, when Lawrence suffered a violent crash that prevented him from participating in the main event. Given the severity of the situation, the medical team determined that surgery would be the best option to ensure a full recovery without future complications.

Honda HRC Progressive, which was already weakened by the absence of Hunter’s brother Jett Lawrence due to knee surgery, will now continue to compete only in the 250SX category. Chance Hymas will maintain his participation in the 250SX East division this weekend in Detroit, while Jo Shimoda will resume competition in 250SX West on February 22 in Arlington, Texas.

Hunter Lawrence, despite the setback, maintained a positive attitude and assured he will return stronger: ‘I will deal with this situation and come back 100%, ready to fight for the title in the outdoor championship and SMX again. I’m extremely grateful to all my partners who make all of this possible. We’ll turn this 2025 season around soon. See you at some of the upcoming races’.

Brandon Wilson, American Honda’s Manager of Sports & Experiential, expressed his frustration with the successive problems the team has faced: ‘We’re all very disappointed for Hunter, especially given the effort he and the team have put into this season. After some initial challenges, Hunter was showing solid speed and great potential. Once he’s fully recovered, we know he’ll be back fighting for top positions. Racing can be ruthless, and this season has been particularly tough for our team, with all our riders affected by injuries. However, we’ve had several years of unprecedented success and we’ll work hard to get back on that path’.

Motorcycle Sports wishes the rider a quick and effective recovery.

The Supercross night at Raymond James Stadium witnessed a historic moment as Malcolm Stewart secured his first-ever 450SX victory in a final filled with dramatic twists.

Chase Sexton got off to a flying start in the main event, taking the early lead ahead of Justin Cooper, Jason Anderson, Ken Roczen, and Shane McElrath. Meanwhile, Eli Tomac struggled from the very first turn, finding himself near the back of the pack. While Sexton controlled the race up front, Malcolm Stewart was on a charge, gaining ground quickly.

Ken Roczen, running in third, saw his race come to a heartbreaking end. While attempting to navigate through lapped riders, he collided with Jeremy Hand and Tristan Lane. His Suzuki was left immobilized due to a derailed chain, forcing him to retire from the event.

Sexton led for 18 laps, but Stewart kept closing in. The race took a dramatic turn when Sexton crashed in the whoops section, allowing Stewart to take over the lead. Holding strong for the final four laps, Stewart crossed the finish line first, claiming a historic victory in his home state.

Cooper Webb charged to second place, making up time with his speed through the whoops, while Jason Anderson rounded out the podium. Justin Cooper finished fourth, followed by a frustrated Chase Sexton, who struggled with a misaligned rear brake. Despite the tough night, Sexton retains the championship lead.

Eli Tomac, dealing with a left leg injury sustained in qualifying, endured a difficult race, finishing 17th.
